How it works
You can order your Wetsuit Recycling Label right here. One label covers the return of up to two wetsuits. If you're also purchasing other products, you'll receive a printed return label in your package. If you're only buying the label, you'll receive a digital version via email.
How to ship your wetsuit(s)
Make sure your wetsuits are clean and completely dry before packing. You can reuse the original SRFACE packaging, or choose any sturdy, sealable box or bag. Place up to two wetsuits per return label in the package. Securely seal the package and attach the UPS return label. Then, drop it off at your nearest UPS Access Point. You’ll receive a drop-off confirmation and tracking info from UPS.
What happens next?
Once we receive your returned wetsuit(s), we collect and store them until our next monthly shipment to LANGBRETT, our recycling partner. There, your wetsuit is mechanically shredded into soft fibers and repurposed into useful products — like shoe soles, industrial filters, or insulation material.
By taking this step, you’re helping reduce landfill waste and supporting a more circular surf industry. Thanks for making a difference.

FAQ
Yes, the recycling program accepts wetsuits from any brand, not just SRFACE. The goal is to reduce overall neoprene waste, so you're encouraged to send in any full or short neoprene wetsuit, regardless of its origin, as long as it’s clean and dry.
You can recycle wetsuits in nearly any condition even those that are ripped, stretched out, delaminated, or no longer wearable. Cosmetic damage, broken zippers, and holes are all fine. The most important requirement is that the wetsuit must be made primarily of neoprene, either natural (like Yulex) or synthetic (like limestone or petroleum-based neoprene).
However, there are a few limitations:
- Hybrid suits or accessories: Items like rash guards, surf leggings, or wetsuit tops that are mostly made of Lycra, nylon, or other textiles can't be processed. Only full neoprene wetsuits (spring suits, full suits, or shorties) are accepted.
- Wet or moldy suits: Wetsuits must be completely dry and clean to prevent hygiene issues or mold damage during transport and storage.
If you're unsure about a specific wetsuit or material, contact our team with a photo or description before sending it in.
Once you drop off your package at a UPS Access Point, it usually takes a few business days to reach our warehouse that serves also as a collection facility. We store these wetsuits until enough are gathered for a bulk shipment, typically once a month, to our recycling partner, LANGBRETT, in Germany.
At LANGBRETT, the wetsuits are shredded in batches, so the complete recycling process, from drop-off to material repurposing, can take anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. While it’s not instant, this batch-based approach is more sustainable, as it reduces transport emissions and allows for more efficient processing.
You’ll receive tracking info when you ship your wetsuit, but we do not send individual recycling confirmations once the process is completed.
Yes, the process is designed to be low-impact. The recycling partner, LANGBRETT, uses a mechanical (not chemical) shredding process, which requires minimal energy and avoids harmful emissions. The shredded neoprene is then used to make long-lasting products, preventing the wetsuit from being incinerated or buried in a landfill both of which release greenhouse gases or pollutants.
