The idea behind our Flex wetsuit is simple: It sets out to maximize flex for limitless and unconstricted surfing. The design is therefore aimed at effectuating maximum freedom of motion. We updated our designs and removed some of the features that are abundant in slightly warmer waters. Subsequently, we managed to develop a wetsuit that is lightweight and brings about outstanding flexibility. Through a continuous process of testing and improving our designs in real-life surfing circumstances, we were able to create a wetsuit that excels in warmer conditions.
SRFACE Flex 4/3mm wetsuits are made with 100% Japanese limestone neoprene, the most flexible, warm and durable limestone neoprene available on the wetsuit market today. Limestone neoprene is much more environmentally friendly than its petroleum based predecessor and can be recycled. The quick drying hollow fiber plush insulation offers warmth and is used only in the areas you need it most. This way, you’re able to stay flexible in your hips, knees, shoulders and arms.
Put together with GBS seams and fully taped inside seams, our SRFACE Flex 4/3mm enables you to most effectively retain your warmth and energy while surfing. The flexible nylon lining feels smooth to the skin and stretches 400% in all directions. Without the smoothskin mesh panels and liquid sealed seams, SRFACE Flex wetsuits have an increased elongation compared to our Heat wetsuit range. All stress points on seam corners are reinforced on the inside with a welded on Melco dot. Making your SRFACE Flex wetsuit last longer and prevent it from tearing.
But that’s not all. Have a look at all the Flex features here.
Depending on where you’re based, the SRFACE 4/3mm Flex excels during different periods of the year. Advised water temperatures for the wetsuit range between 11℃-19℃. You can start wearing a warmer spring or summer wetsuit earlier in the season. This means a more flexible, high-performance wetsuit when the water is still a bit chilly. This increases mobility while surfing without getting cold.
In Portugal, Spain and Southern France, where water temperatures are usually a little warmer than in other European coastal areas, the SRFACE Flex comes to be fully appreciated throughout most of the year. While midsummer might - in some cases - ask for a little less neoprene and midwinter for a little more, the Flex wetsuit can be worn almost anytime.
A little bit further North in Northern France, Belgium, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Germany, water temperatures are more chilly. The SRFACE 4/3mm Flex is most suitable here in late spring, summer and fall, when it is too cold for your 3/2mm but water temperatures are still pleasant. The 4/3 millimeters of neoprene provide more than sufficient protection against cooling water temperatures but the absence of a single-lined back and chest panel and make you a little more susceptible for chilly winds and cold conditions.
In even more Northern areas such as Scandinavia, the SRFACE 4/3mm Flex wetsuit is advised to be used in the summer season only. Surfing in other seasons requires rubber liquid seals and single-lined back and chest panels to wear off the freezing breeze, outside temperatures and ice cold waters. Check out the SRFACE Heat for instance.
In comparison to the SRFACE Flex wetsuit range, our Heat model is all about keeping you warm. SRFACE Heat wetsuits are made from limestone neoprene and come in a 3/2mm, 4/3mm, 5/4mm and a 5/4mm hooded version. A couple of specific features in the Heat wetsuit guarantee optimal thermal efficiency.
The smoothskin chest-, and back panel will keep your core extra warm. Smoothskin is single-lined neoprene that protects you against windchill. This type of chest and back panel enables you to surf longer in cold and windy conditions. In addition to this, we’ve applied a liquid rubber seal on top of the stitching to create a sealed outside seam. This liquid rubber seal gives the seam an extra layer of protection from water entering the wetsuit. It’s a more durable construction that lasts longer than normal GBS seams. The technical name for this seam construction is S-seal.
If you’re looking for the most sustainable wetsuit, the SRFACE Eco wetsuit is your best choice. SRFACE Eco wetsuits are made with Lexcell™, a neoprene-free material developed by Yulex®. The flexible foam is made from natural rubber which is sustainably harvested from Hevea rubber trees in Sri Lanka. The flexible plant based rubber is purified and made into a high quality closed cell foam. This guarantees high-end wetsuit qualities while causing minimum harm to our environment. All Yulex® rubber plantations are FSC® certified.
If flexibility and freedom of motion are your main criteria, then you might have found your new wetsuit in our SRFACE Flex range. Light and flexible, now available in a 2/2mm long sleeve shorty, a 3/2mm short sleeve for men, a 3/2mm and our recently launched 4/3mm. The 4/3mm version excels in early summer conditions when temperatures are starting to rise but the water is still somewhat cold.
