How to care for your wetsuit

Proper wetsuit care can significantly extend the lifespan of your gear while helping to maintain its comfort, flexibility and performance. After each session, it is recommended to rinse your wetsuit with fresh water to remove salt, sand and other residues before allowing it to dry in a shaded, well-ventilated area. Regular cleaning with a wetsuit cleaner can help prevent odours and build-up, while repairing small tears early can stop damage from worsening and keep your wetsuit performing at its best.

Balancing quality, price and sustainability

At SRFACE, every product is guided by the PQP Framework, which stands for Planet, Quality and Price. Rather than focusing on a single factor, we aim to strike the right balance between creating durable products, keeping them accessible, and making more responsible choices throughout the production process. By extending the lifespan of surf gear through proper care, repair and responsible recycling, surfers can help reduce waste while continuing to get the most from their equipment.

FAQ

Proper care will extend the life and performance of your SRFACE wetsuit. After each session, rinse your wetsuit thoroughly with fresh, cold water to remove salt, sand, and other residues. Do not use hot water, detergents, or machine washing, as these can degrade the neoprene and seams.

Turn your wetsuit inside out while drying to protect the outer surface from UV damage. Hang it on a wide, padded hanger or fold it at the waist over a drying rack to prevent shoulder stretch. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources (like radiators or car trunks) which can cause the neoprene to become brittle over time.

Once fully dry inside and out, store your wetsuit in a cool, dry, and shaded place. For long-term storage, keep it hanging or loosely folded without creases, and avoid placing heavy items on top of it. With regular care, your SRFACE wetsuit will remain flexible, warm, and ready for the water whenever you are.

Try it on, paddle out, cut back, get tubed. You can try any of our products for 30 days from the day you receive them. This post-purchase, risk-free 30 day trial serves as our return policy. If you decide your SRFACE wetsuit isn’t for you, return it in the original SRFACE packaging. It’s best to avoid drying your wetsuit in direct sunlight. While it might seem like the quickest option, prolonged sun exposure can damage the neoprene, causing it to dry out, crack, and lose flexibility over time. UV rays can also fade the fabric and weaken the materials, shortening your wetsuit’s lifespan. For best results, rinse your wetsuit with fresh water after each session and hang it to dry in the shade, inside-out first, then flip it once the inside is dry.
