Let’s be honest. No matter how much you love your wetsuit, it won’t last forever. After a few seasons of icy duck dives, salty sunrises, and sandy car park changes, it gets tired. The seams split. The warmth fades. The flexibility just isn’t what it used to be.
That used to be the end of the line. Most surfers would toss it in the trash and move on. Out of sight, out of mind. But here’s the thing, wetsuits don’t just disappear. They end up in landfills. Or worse, they get incinerated, releasing toxic chemicals into the air. Neither of those feels great when you love the ocean. That’s why we’ve created something that changes the game. A simple, affordable way to recycle your old wetsuit, no matter what brand it’s from. At SRFACE we’re launching Wetsuit Recycling Label, a small sticker with a big impact.

SO WHAT IS IT?
It’s exactly what it sounds like. A prepaid shipping label that lets you send your old wetsuits to our recycling partner.
For just €10, you can return up to two wetsuits in a single package. They’ll be collected, processed, and given a second life as something entirely new like insulation panels for homes, flexible shoe soles, or industrial-grade materials that help keep machinery clean. You’re not just keeping waste out of landfills. You’re turning your old gear into something useful, functional, and totally unexpected.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
We’ve designed the process to be as easy and surfer-friendly as possible. Here’s how it works:
1. Order the Label
Go to Wetsuit Recycling Label and purchase the label for €10. If you’re placing another order, we’ll include a printed version in the box. Otherwise, we’ll email you a digital label to print at home.
2. Pack Your Wetsuit(s)
Clean and dry your wetsuit(s) first. This part’s important. Moisture and sand can slow down the recycling process or make transport tricky. Use your original SRFACE packaging if you still have it, or any strong box or bag will do.
3. Drop It Off
Attach the label securely and bring the package to your nearest UPS Access Point. You’ll get a tracking code so you can follow the journey to the collection facility (a.k.a our warehouse).
4. We Handle the Rest
We gather all returned suits and once a month we send them to LANGBRETT, our trusted recycling partner. Their team processes the materials using a mechanical shredding method. No chemicals, no high-heat incineration, just low-impact, eco-conscious recycling.

CAN YOU RECYCLE ANY WETSUIT?
Yes. As long as it’s made from neoprene, we’ll take it. Doesn’t matter if it’s from SRFACE or any other brand. Torn? Delaminated? Smells like a hundred surf sessions? Totally fine. The only catch is it has to be clean and dry. And if it’s mostly made from fabric like Lycra, it’s not the best fit for recycling.
Short answer? Yes, as long as it’s made of neoprene.
We accept full wetsuits from any brand, in just about any condition. It can be ripped, delaminated, patched, or faded. Even the oldest warriors from the back of your van or garage are welcome.
There are just two small requirements:
- The suit must be clean and dry
- It must be primarily made of neoprene – hybrids with a lot of Lycra or textile materials aren’t ideal for this process
So if you’re clearing out your gear locker or replacing a wetsuit that’s past its prime, this is your chance to recycle it the right way.

WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?
Neoprene is a synthetic rubber made from petrochemicals. It’s durable, flexible, and great for keeping you warm but it doesn’t break down naturally. A wetsuit that’s thrown away today could be sitting in a landfill a hundred years from now. Even worse, most discarded wetsuits are burned in waste-to-energy facilities, releasing pollutants into the air.
By choosing to recycle, you’re directly reducing pollution, saving raw materials, and lowering the demand for virgin neoprene production. It’s a simple act that supports a more circular surf economy, one where your gear doesn’t end up as waste, but as a building block for something new. However, recycling is only one part of the puzzle. To stay sustainable from day one, the wetsuits need to be designed with sustainability in mind.

IT’S NOT JUST RECYCLING. IT’S A MOVEMENT.
Once your old suit reaches the LANGBRETT facility, it goes through a mechanical recycling process. That means no chemicals or heavy industrial treatments. Instead, the suit is shredded into small pieces and repurposed into raw materials.
These materials are then used in a variety of industries, from sustainable construction to footwear and filtration. It’s functional, smart recycling with minimal environmental impact. In other words, your old wetsuit could end up helping someone stay warm in winter. Or become part of a trail-running shoe. Or support clean water systems. That’s pretty rad.

LET’S SURF SMARTER
It’s not about perfection. It’s about progress. About making one good choice at a time and building better habits for the future of surfing. With one small purchase, you’re joining a community of surfers who believe that what we do off the water matters just as much as what we do on it.
Send it off. Close the loop. Surf with a clear conscience.
